The following bibliographies reflect material only found in the Department of Special Collections at the University of Tulsa.  Each bibliography has been constructed for a specific purpose and should not be viewed as comprehensive.  In addition, the Department of Special Collections may have other materials that are not included in the bibliography.  For additional information about Special Collection's holdings on any of the subjects below, please contact our department directly at 918-631-2496 and ask to speak to Marc Carlson.  Please note that additional materials may be added to the bibliographies as they are identified or acquired.

  • English Civil War:  Politics & Literature
This bibliography supplements an advanced course in political history and in the history of literature and political thought.  It assumes the students have a familiarity with the general outlines of the history of England in the period of the Renaissance and Reformation.  The period to be studied is that of the English Revolution - the span of years stretching from the first meeting of the Long Parliament in early November, 1640 to the Restoration of Charles II in May, 1660.

  • Sherlock Holmes
This bibliography comes from a special private exhibit celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first edition of Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  This event, High Tea with the Hound, was celebrated by the local Sherlock Holmes society, The Afghanistan Perceivers, and featured a presentation by Mr. Allen Bauman, a doctoral student in English at The University of Tulsa.  You may also view Mr. Bauman's paper, Watson's Brothers-in-Arms: The Construction of Heroism, The Victoria Cross, and The Strand Magazine.
