Periodicals

McFarlin Library's periodical collection (magazines and journals) is located on the North side of both the Lower and Intermediate Levels. Recent issues of periodicals which the library receives in paper format are shelved alphabetically by journal title on the Lower Level North, followed by the bound back issues for titles beginning with A through G. Bound volumes for periodicals whose titles fall in the latter part of the alphabet, H - Z, are housed on the Intermediate Level North and East.

Many of McFarlin Library's periodicals, as well as a number of research collections, are now available in microform (i.e. microfiche and microfilm). Microfiche and microfilm journals are housed on the Lower Level West on the south end. Microfilm cartridges are located on the first two rows of the compact shelving on Lower Level West. Newspapers on microfilm and reader-printers are conveniently located near the Lower Level Service Desk.

Some major research collections in microforms are:

  • Early American Imprints (Lower Level West)
  • Kraus Curriculum Development Library (Lower Level West)
  • Western Americana (new Lower Level Service Desk)
  • Nineteenth Century Drama (Lower Level West)

Check the catalog for periodical holdings, format and location.
