Offsite Access Using AOL or CompuServeAs most America Online and CompuServe subscribers know, a web browser comes built-in to each service's software. Unfortunately, you can't use this built-in browser with the library's proxy server. You must use a separate browser. The Library suggests the current versions of either Microsoft's Internet Explorer (version 6), Netscape's Navigator (version 8), Mozilla's Firefox (version 1). If you don't already have them, these browsers are available from: Once you have downloaded and installed the browser no further configuration is necessary to access the proxy server. To use your new browser, simply sign on to AOL or CompuServe as you normally do. Then start Internet Explorer or Netscape. NOTE: You must be signed on to AOL or CompuServe for the browser to work. You must also be using version 3 or above of the AOL software. |
