 1500.019.1.7 Original leaf from Koran dated 1207 A. D. 1207   3.0 Items Original leaf, a note sheet, and facsimile of title page. Manuscript on paper. Some gold leaf. 18 x 29.5 cm.

Scope and Contents note

The writer spent 22 years of his life working on this book. Almost every color is used in addition to solid gold leaf. He finished his work at 4.00 pm in the afternoon, March 22, 1207. The red lettering is in Persian, and the black words are Arabic. This book was found in Tehran, Iran in 1952 by Stanley S. Slotkin, and before disassembly was appraised for $25,000.
