The correspondence dates from 1954 through 1985.

Series 2: Writings consist of autograph and typescript drafts of articles, essays, poetry, radio scripts, and French/English translations of works by other authors. Also included in this series are 15 notebooks containing drafts of many of the same types of writings, as well as a scrapbook filled with press cuttings of appearances of Gascoyne’s articles and reviews of his work by others. The writings are arranged alphabetically by title and are followed by the notebooks. A brief inventory of the contents of each notebook is included in the inventory.

Series 3: Miscellaneous includes a check-list of works by and about Gascoyne in the Portsmouth Polytechnic Library; notices for Gascoyne’s poetry readings; Gascoyne’s U. S. A. itinerary, Mar 8-18, 1981; and brochure for Totleigh Barton courses at the Arvon Foundation in Devon.
