Administrative/Biographical History:
Tulsa oilman, Edgar Fitch Bullard (1898-1978) was born the son of Howard and
Jean (Young) Bullard in West Charlton, New York. He was educated at Phillips
Exeter (1913-1917) and at Yale (Ph.D., 1919-1921). During World War I he
served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy.
Bullard served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Pan
American Petroleum Corporation, as a Director of the Standard Oil Company of
Indiana, and as a Director of the First National Bank and Trust Company of
Tulsa. The Texas Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association presented him with the
Distinguished Service Award in 1954, and in 1956 the University of Tulsa
awarded him an honorary Doctorate of Science.
Bullard traveled widely for both business and pleasure. Many of the
photographs in the collection derive mainly from his hunting and fishing trips
to several continents.
